A Year of Promoting The People Who Make the Things I Love: Jan 7–Dan Telfer

In 2022, I am going to spend some time each day promoting someone who makes the things I love. I started this series because I believe that we, myself included, spend so much time on social media dunking on people (however deserved) and not enough time lifting up people deserving of positive attention.

Today I am shining a spotlight on writer and comedian Dan Telfer.

When I first walked into my local game store to try playing Dungeons and Dragons for the first time, I was nervous. I didn’t want to do something stupid and feel out of place. The group was so welcoming that it wouldn’t have happened anyway, but I felt a little less nervous because of Dan Telfer.

Dan is, among many things, the current dungeon master for the podcast Nerd Poker with Brian Posehn.

While everyone on the show contributes to make it my favorite DnD podcast to listen to, Telfer does an amazing job as the dungeon master. He creates incredible, interwoven worlds, that we have learned continue through each season (now in its fourth season in the podcast’s current iteration).

About a year after I played DnD for the first time, I made my debut as a DM. And again, I felt less nervous because of Dan Telfer.
