A Year of Promoting The People Who Make the Things I Love: Jan 24–Lily Sullivan
In 2022, I am going to spend some time each day promoting someone who makes the things I love. I started this series because I believe that we, myself included, spend so much time on social media dunking on people (however deserved) and not enough time lifting up people deserving of positive attention.
Today, like Paul F. Tompkins, I feel like I have to give a shout out to Lily Sullivan.
I first heard Lily on the Comedy Bang Bang podcast, on which she has been playing incredible characters for the past few years. Recently, she played an Australian actress also named Lily Sullivan (which is actually based on a real person.)
Another fantastic character that she did on Comedy Bang Bang is Francesca Bolognese. It’s one of those characters that basically does the same bit over and over, but Sullivan manages to make it even funnier each time.
In addition to her work on CBB, she also made her own podcast called Going Deep, which features her therapist character conducting absurd therapy sessions with other comedians playing hilarious characters. You can find that on Stitcher.
You can also see her on I Think You Should Leave and The Righteous Gemstones.
If you aren’t familiar with her, do yourself a favor and check her out. You can find her on Twitter at the very easy handle to remember L-I-L-Y-Y-I-L-Y.
