A Year of Promoting The People Who Make the Things I Love: Feb 9— JJ (From Kansas)
In 2022, I am going to spend some time each day promoting someone who makes the things I love. I started this series because I believe that we, myself included, spend so much time on social media dunking on people (however deserved) and not enough time lifting up people deserving of positive attention.
Today’s featured amazing person is someone who should be known already to the hockey community — JJ (From Kansas).
(I am not using his full name or actual picture since he rarely or never uses those online).
In my time at Winging it in Motown, I got to learn what an amazing person JJ is. Very often he is known for making puns either on his personal account or the Winging it in Motown account. These puns are amazing or agonizing (or sometimes both) depending on your view of puns.
While that is what many people know him for, he is also a wonderful, caring, thoughtful person, who embodies the ideas that this series is meant to represent.
He goes out of his way to encourage the people who write with and for him at SB Nation to pursue their passions. He promotes people who are producing good work and could use a greater platform. He is greatly responsible for Winging it in Motown having one of the best commenting sections on the internet due to his commitment to moderating the site.
All in all, he is an example for other people in his role to aspire to.
