A Year of Promoting The People Who Make the Things I Love: Feb 23 — The Composers of Horizon Forbidden West

In 2022, I am going to spend some time each day promoting someone who makes the things I love. I started this series because I believe that we, myself included, spend so much time on social media dunking on people (however deserved) and not enough time lifting up people deserving of positive attention.

Today I wanted to talk a little about the music of Horizon Forbidden West and the people who made that happen.

These articles are designed to be short blurbs about each day’s focus, so if you want to learn more, this article gives way more information than I do here.

I, like many others, had been waiting with bated breath to play Horizon Forbidden West, and since it has been out, I have done little else with my free time.

A previous article in this series focused on amazing voice actor Ashly Burch, who is front and center when discussing how great Aloy is as a character. I am sure she would be the first to tell you about the hard work of many people who help to bring that character to life.

And while Aloy is deservedly a major part of the discussion of the game’s success, many different people work hard to give the player an engaging and engrossing experience. So today, I wanted to highlight the people who create the music that gets stuck in your head as you navigate the enormous world of the game.

Like I said above, if you want a lot of details about these great people, read the article linked earlier.

But let me give a quick shoutout to Joris de Man, Niels van de Leest, composing duo The Flight, and Oleksa Lozowchuk. All but Lozowchuk are back from Horizon Zero Dawn.

So, play the game if you can, read the article, and give these people some love and recognition.
